Moving Violations

The Southampton Police issue a large number of moving violations in the Village of Southampton and throughout the township. All moving violations carry points. The amount of points varies from 2 points to 11 points per ticket depending on the violation.

When a motorist accumulates 6 points on his license within an 18-month period, calculated by dates of violation, DMV will impose a driver assessment fee starting at $300. This is in addition to any fines, surcharges and administrative fees the court may impose.

The driver assessment fee increases with the amount of points involved. At 11 points DMV will suspend your license. In addition, points on a motorist driver’s license will usually lead to an increase in insurance premiums.

ZERO POINTS ON YOUR LICENSE IS OUR GOAL

The most common tickets issued in Southampton are for 6 point speeding tickets, and 5 point cell phone violations. While speeding tickets range from 3 points to 11 points depending on the number of miles over the speed limit the ticket is issued for, most speeding tickets issued in Southampton are for 6-point speeding tickets. Other moving violations issued throughout Southampton are tickets for failing to yield, failing to signal, failing to yield to an emergency vehicle, Failing to move over, following too closely, passing a stop sign, disobey traffic control device, and driving with a suspended license.

As a Southampton Traffic Lawyer, I am usually able to get these tickets reduced down to 0 points thereby averting any problems that points on the driver’s license will pose. If you have received a traffic ticket returnable to one of the Southampton courts, call for a free consultation. I will let you know what resolution you can expect with my representation.

As a traffic lawyer, I have handled thousands of traffic tickets. I am in court everyday negotiating with the same prosecutors and judges. While the ultimate resolution of your ticket will depend on a variety of factors, my goal on every traffic ticket I handle in Southampton is for my clients to receive NO POINTS on their license.

Traffic tickets issued in Southampton can be either an infraction, a violation, a misdemeanor, and in some cases a felony.

SOME TRAFFIC TICKETS CARRY AN AUTOMATIC 1 YEAR LICENSE REVOCATION.

In addition, you will also receive a $750 civil penalty in addition to a fine and surcharge.
